Biografia:

Londinese, studia typographic design al London College of Printing. Da più di trent’anni abita a Milano dove ha lavorato come designer per alcune case editrici. Freelance dal 1980, seguendo una passione per le forme delle lettere scritte e disegnate, si specializza in calligrafia e lettering per lavori commerciali come copertine di libri, etichette di vino e logotipi. Tra i fondatori dell’Associazione Calligrafica Italiana, è anche socio AIAP. Insegna al Politecnico di Milano e in altri istituti come la SUPSI di Lugano. Partecipa a conferenze internazionali e scrive sulla calligrafia, sulla storia della tipografia e delle arti grafiche per pubblicazioni inglesi e italiane.

Biography:

Londoner James Clough studied Typographic Design at the London College of Printing. For more than thirty years, he has lived in Milan, where he has worked as a designer for a number of publishing houses. A freelancer since 1980, his passion for the forms of letters both written and drawn has led him to specialise in calligraphy and lettering for commercial projects such as book covers, wine labels and logos. One of the founding members of the Associazione Calligrafica Italiana, he is also an AIAP member. He teaches at the Politecnico di Milano and at other institutes such as the SUPSI in Lugano. He participates in international conferences and writes on calligraphy and on the history of typography and the graphic arts for British and Italian publications.
